Old Town Attracts Significant New Tenant

<< back to Current News List

Northwest Health Foundation (NWHF) leased a significant amount of space in the Chamber of Commerce Building, announced J. Clayton Hering, President of NAI Norris, Beggs & Simpson. Doug Jones represented the landlord in this transaction. Scott Madsen, SIOR of Capacity Commercial Group, represented the tenant.

The Chamber of Commerce Building is a three-story, 28,103 sf building located at 221 NW Second Avenue in the heart of Old Town. NWHF occupies the third floor and intends to create a shared office suite for other foundations in the vacant space on the second floor. Currently, NWHF is in the process of remodeling the third floor and the building’s common areas. The building has also been renamed to the Center for Philanthropy.

NWHF is an independent, charitable foundation created from the sale of the nonprofit PACC Health Plans and HMO. The Foundation has $91.4 million under management, and has invested more than $30 million in health and health care organizations  serving Oregon and southwest Washington since its founding in 1997.

Doug Jones notes that this significant lease is further indication of the revitalization of Old Town: “NWHF’s decision to move into Old Town is a show of faith in this area. Significant revitalization steps have been made in this historically-rich neighborhood. Along with the University of Oregon, which is moving into their new headquarters in the area, NWHF is the second significant tenant to settle in Old Town in the past year.”
