Chris Johnson, SIOR and Michael R. Merino, CCIM, SIOR, were awarded several real estate honors for their work in 2006, announced J. Clayton Hering, President of NAI Norris, Beggs & Simpson.
Merino was the recipient of both the Oregon’s Certified Commercial Investment Members (CCIM) and the Oregon Chapeter of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) Industrial Transaction of the Year for 2006. Both of these organizations recognized Merino for his work in a series of complex real estate transactions on behalf of his client, Richards Homewares. The client required several transactions to occur in a highly-specified timeline to avoid financial vulnerability. These transactions included the purchase of a 106,000 sf warehouse to allow the client to consolidate several properties under one roof. Subsequently, two properties were slated for leasing and one facility needed to be sold.
Johnson was honored by the Oregon Chapter of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) as its Broker of the Year for 2006. Founded in 1915, BOMA is a trade association dedicated to aiding its members through further education, legislation and networking. To be awarded the organization’s Broker of the Year, the candidate must exemplify a “value-added” approach to commercial real estate and their community. Johnson is well-regarded for the many contributions he has made both professionally and civically throughout his 20 years in Portland real estate.
